Recommended eBook Settings

Our eBooks contain many photos, diagrams and music scores to provide a rich learning experience but this can push the capabilities of some eBook reading devices.

To get the most from this eBook please note:

  • Be sure to install the latest software updates for your device;
  • Should you experience difficulties playing the free audio or video content (available for selected titles) please use an alternative device, such as a Windows or Mac personal computer;
  • While this eBook can be viewed on smartphones, it has been optimized for the latest color tablet devices;
  • If you use a black and white eBook reader, you can view it in color on a personal computer (see below).

 

For the best reading experience we recommend the following settings:

Apple iPad:

  • Minimum requirements: iBooks 3.2 or higher
  • 'Original' font is recommended
  • Select one of the 3 smallest font sizes
  • Scrolling View: OFF
  • Full justification should be turned OFF
  • Auto-hyphenation should be turned ON

 

 

Amazon Kindle:

Note: 3rd Generation Kindles (Kindle Keyboard) and later running Kindle Format 8 (KF8) are supported. Be sure to install the latest software updates available from Amazon.

  • Use Portrait mode
  • Publisher Font should be turned ON (Kindle Keyboard)
  • Georgia typeface is recommended (Kindle Fire)
  • Select one of the 3 smallest font sizes
  • Set line spacing to smallest
  • Set margins to widest

 

 

Barnes and Noble Nook:

  • Use Portrait mode
  • Georgia typeface (for Nook Tablet) or Caecilia (Nook Touch)
  • Amasis typeface (for Nook for PC/Mac)
  • Set margins to medium
  • Select one of the 3 smallest font sizes
  • Publisher Defaults should be turned ON

 

 

Sony Reader:

  • Use Portrait mode
  • Font Type: Original
  • Select one of the 3 smallest font sizes

 

 

Kobo:

  • Use Portrait mode
  • Font Style should be Publisher Default (Kobo Arc) or Georgia (Kobo Touch)
  • Select one of the 5 smallest font sizes (Kobo Arc) or 7 smallest (Kobo Touch)
  • The 'Use Kobo Styling' function must be turned OFF
  • Justification should be turned OFF (Kobo Touch)

 

 

Google Play Books:

Scanned Pages/ Original Pages mode: ON

Note: To access hyperlinks, you will need to switch to Flowing Text mode.

 

 

Android Devices (e.g., Nexus, Galaxy):

Check with the store that you purchased this eBook from as they may have a free Android reader App available which will automatically sync the books between your store account and your device (e.g., Kindle Reader for Android, Nook for Android, Google Play Books for Android, etc). Please refer to the recommended settings above, for that platform.

Alternatively we support and recommend the Kobo Reader app, available from the Google Play Store. This app is the best way to read our eBooks on an Android device even if you didn't buy from them from the Kobo Store. Please follow the instructions in the eBook Download Guide - Android if you purchased your eBook from the LearnToPlayMusic.com Store. Other Android eBook reader applications, while functional, may not achieve the best results.

 

 

Personal Computers (Mac & Windows):

Check with the store that you purchased this eBook from as they may have a free desktop or cloud reader App available for your computer which will automatically sync the books between your store account and your computer.

Alternatively; if you are using a Windows computer or a Macintosh computer running Mac OS 10.8 or below use Adobe Digital Editions 2.0 or higher.

If you are running a Macintosh computer with Mac OS 10.9 or above, you can use Apple iBooks, which is included with your system software.
